I was just wondering why literature is dreaded by so many students in lower secondary?

Usually interest in the Humanities and Languages depends very greatly on the teacher - some teachers teach, let's say, poetry, as though it were some scientific phenomenon waiting to be analysed and calculated. It becomes so factual, so caught up with the technicalities of the (for instance,) traditional form that all the emotions and significance of word choice/literary devices is forgotten.

Also, as Literature is considered rather obscure to the average student. Without a good teacher who will instill an interest in the discipline and give new insights into the realities of Literature, students inevitably get bored and irritable.

However, I personally enjoy Literature a lot. Thanks to my wonderful teachers over the years! Haha.

I guess it's the same reason no one posts over here.
