Hi folks! I've just attended a young writer's forum last Saturday. Umm, I was a gatecrasher, so, not that young actually :) Met with Hsien Min, saw Yi-Sheng 'perform' in his poetry reading, plus a host of others who shared. I had a really jolly good time!
Thought I'd share this piece.
Title: A Leg Up To Heaven
The evening was cool and cloudy
As I sat in silence by the window,
Remembering sweet memories of old
And listening to the soft wind blow.
With a smile on my lips, I recalled
A small girl tiptoed on stacked-up chairs,
Stretching little fingers too short to reach
The big jar of rainbow gummy bears.
"Oh poor darling!" my mother had cried,
Rushing to steady my seesaw perch.
Then with a gentle arm to hold me close,
She gave me a leg up to end my search.
I laughed and cried as I recalled
How much nearer Heaven that inch made,
To grab a handful of lovely sticky treats
Of green and blue and yellow and red.
Now outside, a young boy I spied
Dangling on a limb from a giant tree,
Stretching his arm as far as he could reach,
A frightened kitten he was trying to free.
With a song in my heart, I flew
Using the same words my mother said,
"Let mummy give you a leg up, honey!"
And hoist him nearer Heaven as I prayed,
"Dear Lord, You gave me a leg up
So many times at work and at play
That I am reminded to share your love
With people I meet every single day."

Hi Mr. Lee, I'm terribly sorry for not checking this forum! Thanks for your note. At least someone read my poem :)
It is very strange. I went to my hotmail account and there is no email from you. Yes, absolutely, it would be good to keep up the correspondence. I'll email you in a short while. In the meantime, I can also be reached using email@example.com or through my website: http://gentlecloud.tripod.com (NOTE: no 'www' prefixed)

I emailed you some queries regarding your book to your hotmail account. I wonder if you received it or were you too busy to attend to your mail lately. Please give it a read and I hope we could keep up the correspondence if you don't mind :)
